It will come as no surprise to find that most suppliers of web services, web design etc, can be found almost exclusively online. Most people will never walk into a web design office in their lives, they will simply find a company or individual online who offers a good price for the work and agree a price. This is a good thing in many ways, the way internet business is conducted can often lead to good competition and fast results, however it can also expose the client to dangers. There are many web companies who are simply out to take peoples money and never deliver, some are simply too swamped with work becuase they charge a low price, and as a result are unreliable. The best advice is to try and find someone with a good track history of happy clients you can actually contact, and at the very least you should run the individuals name and details through a reverse lookup service online to check they are a real person and do not have a criminal record for scamming people.
