Knowing what the parts of a guitar are is the very first necessary part of learning how to play the guitar. Right-handed guitar players use their left hand for picking and holding the guitar’s neck and the right hand for strumming. It is important that the body of your guitar to sit comfortably on your right thigh as if it were following your own body. Located along the guitar’s neck are pieces of metal that are called frets. These frets are where the guitar strings are attached and they are the main source of the guitar’s sound. The guitar’s strings will vibrate when strummed, but the only way that true sound can come out of your guitar is if the guitar strings are pressed on the guitar’s fret board.
